Registration Papers
Your dog must be registered on the Main Register to be eligible to enter a Dog Show.
Ownership of your dog should be transferred to your name as soon as possible after you purchase the dog.
You will need to complete the back of your dog's registration papers, and send the original to your local State or Territory Canine Association (even if the dog was originally registered in another State or Territory).
You will need to be a current member of the Controlling Body in the State or Territory in which you live.
Canine Association Membership
To be eligible to show a dog over 6 months of age, you must be a current financial member in the State or Territory Canine Association in which you live. ( Membership forms are available from the Associations.)
You must be over 7 years of age to handle a dog at a Show
You must be able to control your dog at all times in the ring The judge may at his or her discretion ask any exhibitor to leave the ring without being judged if they feel that the dog is not under sufficient control. (This is especially relevant for younger handlers showing a large or very strong breed.)
If a dog displays aggressive tendencies towards the judge, you may be asked to leave the ring without being judged.
Once you have decided if you would like to (and are able to) show your dog, the next step is to enter your dog in a Show.
